In 2010 the Board of Governors approved the formation of a Connecticut non-stock corporation entitled The Golf Club of Avon Foundation, Incorporated. This new corporation has one member, which is the Golf Club of Avon, acting through its Board of Governors. The purpose and primary goal of this Foundation is to make educational grants to students who are employees of the Golf Club of Avon or to the children of employees of the Golf Club of Avon. The Foundation is managed by its Board of Directors who are appointed by the Golf Club of Avon’s Board of Governors.

Funding for the educational grants is expected to be primarily from donations to the Foundation by Golf Club of Avon Members or others affiliated with the Golf Club of Avon, though contributions from the general public will also be welcomed. The Foundation has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt 501 (C) (3) organization and therefore donations to the Foundation will be deductible for federal income tax purposes.

Eligible Golf Club of Avon employees or their children will complete and furnish a comprehensive questionnaire and a financial need form as part of the application process.  Other criteria to be considered will be academic performance and character recommendations.  Each applicant will then be interviewed and final selections will be made.

The initial gift to establish the Foundation was made possible by a donation from the Richard P. Garmany Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.  Richard was a long time member of the Golf Club of Avon and we hope his legacy gift will inspire others.  We are truly blessed to have this generous grant to start this Foundation to further the educational plans of deserving students.
