In 2012, The Board of Governors approved the formation of a Connecticut non-stock corporation entitled The Golf Club of Avon Foundation, Incorporated. This new corporation has one member which is the Golf Club of Avon, acting through its Board of Governors. The purpose and primary goal of this Foundation is to make educational grants to students who are employees of the Golf Club of Avon or to the children of employees of the Golf Club of Avon. The Foundation is managed by its Board of Directors who are appointed by the Golf Club of Avonís Board of Governors.

Funding for the educational grants is expected to be primarily from donations to the Foundation by Golf Club of Avon Members or others affiliated with the Golf Club of Avon, though all contributions from the general public are welcome. The Foundation has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt 501 (C) (3) organization and therefore donations to the Foundation will be deductible for federal income tax purposes.

Eligible Golf Club of Avon employees or their children will complete and furnish all necessary paperwork and applications for consideration. Each applicant will be interviewed and final selection will be based on the information furnished in the application including financial need, academic performance, character recommendations and other criteria.

The inspiration for this Foundation was the generous donation and grant of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving recommended by our late, long time member, Richard Garmany. The Foundation has approved a significant grant this year and may contribute to this Foundation in the future. We are truly blessed to have this generous act to create this Foundation to further the educational plans of deserving students. This Foundation hopes to be able to award scholarships for many years to come.

Thank you for taking the time to review this letter and we look forward to your support of this opportunity to award scholarship assistance to deserving Golf Club of Avon employees and their children.
